Have you heard about the viral baked potato flight on TikTok?

A food flight gives you the opportunity to sample a variety of flavors of a specific type of food. At The Produce Moms, we love to create family-friendly ways to serve fruits and veggies which is why we love this potato flight so much. It’s like a beer flight — but with potatoes — so the kids can enjoy it too!

Baked Potato Flight on a board

Baked Potato Flight is sponsored by Wada Farms.

Wada Farms Smalls (mini potatoes) are baked in the oven until the skin is crispy with the perfect crunch. Arrange them on a serving platter or board and top with your favorite toppings.

It’s the perfect bite-size snack that little hands can easily hold with endless topping variations. We’ve included our top four favorite toppings, but feel free to create your own — that’s our kids’ favorite part.

Main Potato Flight Ingredients

Baked and salted mini potatoes

The base of these potato flights only requires three ingredients. You may even already have them stocked in your pantry, but let’s check just to be sure.

Potatoes

We used Wada Farms Smalls Artisan Mini Potatoes. They are small and round instead of oblong, like fingerlings. The smalls are perfect for the base of your mini potato appetizer. We like that they’re still bite-size but large enough to layer toppings for a flavorful bite.

Olive Oil

You’ll need a few tablespoons of olive oil to toss the potatoes so they get extra crispy as they bake.

Salt

Salt and potatoes is a simple, classic pairing that always gets our kids excited about their produce. Just a quick sprinkle enhances the potatoes’ natural, earthy flavor before you add your toppings.

You’ll add your favorite topping combinations after the potatoes come out of the oven. Check out our favorites below, and be sure to confirm you have those on hand. Or make your own tasty creations!

How to Make a Baked Potato Flight

First, start with the base of your potato flight appetizer. Then have your kids help you add the toppings.

Poke the potatoes with a fork.

Step 1: Prep the potatoes.

Use a fork to poke a few holes in each mini potato and put them in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. This releases the steam in the potatoes so they don’t burst from pressure while baking.

Oiled and salted mini potatoes.

Step 2: Season the potatoes.

Drizzle olive oil on the potatoes and sprinkle with sea salt, using your hands to spread the seasoning around evenly.

Step 3: Bake the mini potatoes.

Bake the seasoned mini potatoes at 425°F for 25-28 minutes. When the skin is crisp and a fork can be easily inserted, your mini baked potatoes are ready!

Cut a slit in the tops of the potatoes.

Step 4: Toppings!

Use a knife to slice open the potatoes and pile on your favorite toppings.

Here are a few that our family especially loves:

Traditional mini baked potato

Traditional — a slice of butter, shredded cheese, bacon bits, and green onions

BBQ chicken mini baked potato

BBQ Chicken — a dollop of ranch dressing, shredded chicken, blue cheese crumbles, and a drizzle of buffalo sauce.

Hamburger mini baked potato

Hamburger — a small piece of hamburger, a square of sliced cheese, diced onion, a squirt of ketchup, and a pickle!

Mexican mini baked potato

Mexican — a chunk of refried beans, creamy guacamole, shredded cheese, and a dab of hot sauce
