We get it!
Olivia doesnโt want to wear the outfit you picked out together the night before. And Liam just doesnโt want to wake up.
But one thing you can count on to save you time in the mornings is this Apple Cheese Wrap recipe.
With little to no effort, wrap a piece of apple and cheese in turkey or ham, and youโve got lunch made the night before. So all you have to do is grab lunch boxes and go before dropping off your clan at school.
Easy, delicious, and healthy is the name of the game with this Apple Cheese Wrap recipe. Theyโre sure to be your kids’ new favorite lunch (and probably yours too).
What are apple and cheese wraps?
Apple cheese wraps are made with a piece of cheese and a slice of apple that you wrap in ham or turkey from your favorite deli.
Customize your wraps with different types of apples and cheeses to suit you and your family’s tastes. Itโs a straightforward way to give your kids a healthy, balanced lunch that leaves them feeling satisfied and energized for the rest of their school day.
Instead of a traditional sandwich, apple cheese wraps still give you all of the nutrients and convenience. Itโs almost like a sandwich without the bread.
Easy, right?
Do apples and cheese taste good together?
So. Good.
Crisp, tart, and sweet apple slices paired with salty, creamy, and savory cheeses โ you get the best of both worlds. The cheese intensifies the flavor of your apple for a perfect mix of savory and sweet.
Switch up your flavors by pairing different types of apples and cheeses. Some apples are sweeter or more tart while cheeses vary from pungent to mild and salty. And the Crunch Pak family bags make it even easier to switch it up. They come in Sweet, Tart or Mixed. You can often find them with some varietal options like Honeycrisp, Ambrosia or Cosmic Crisp.
If youโve ever had a grilled cheese with apples, you know this is a match made in heaven. And if you havenโt tried it โ youโre in for a treat.
What kind of cheese goes with apples?
Hereโs a quick guide to apple and cheese pairings.
Apple | Cheese |
Sweet | Cheddar, Blue, Pepper Jack, Goat, Fontina, Provolone |
Tart | Gouda, Swiss, Gruyere |
You might have noticed that cheese with a little kick, like pepper jack, is often paired with a sweeter apple, like Gala. See how the flavor combos balance each other out โ sweet and spicy.
Of course, this isnโt a hard and fast list. If your kids go crazy for gouda cheese and granny smith apples, by all means, throw โem together. A healthy and quick lunch that your kids actually want to eat is half the battle!
Not sure where to start?
Mix and match your apples with different cheeses. If youโre new to the cheese world, cheddar and colby jack are a safe bet over something more exotic like blue cheese. Youโll find out in no time if you and your family are team sweet, tart, creamy, or salty.
Health Benefits of Apples
You know that saying, โAn apple a day keeps the doctor away.โ? Thereโs some truth in that. Apples are nutrient dense which means they have a lot of good stuff that our bodies need in just one serving.
Apples have fiber for gut health and vitamins like B1 for growth and development. And they may even help with weight loss and brain health1. You also get half of the fiber in apples from the skin1. Leave the skin on to benefit from all the nutrients in your Apple Cheese Wraps.
Produce Mom Tip: Try Crunch Pakโs pre-sliced apples to save you time on cutting and lunch prep. They even stay fresh and juicy so you donโt have to worry about browning. Itโs a huge time saver!
Apple Cheese Wrap Ingredients
The best part of this recipe is that you only need 5 ingredients and no cooking, just assembling.
Hereโs what you need:
Crunch Pak Apple Slices
Crunch Pak offers pre-sliced apples that stay tasty and crisp. That means no cutting or soaking your apple slices in lemon juice to lock in the sweet, freshness of your apples. That means less work and less cleaning up later.
Colby Jack Cheese
Colby jack cheese is usually more mild and sweet than cheddar cheese. It goes well with pretty much everything in your apple cheese wraps like deli meats and apples. Colby jack cheese isnโt spicy so itโs perfect for a kid-friendly lunch.
Cheddar Cheese
Cheddar cheese is orange and has a strong, sharp flavor. Youโve probably added it to casseroles or mac and cheese. And it has calcium and vitamin K to promote strong bones and healthy teeth.
Deli Turkey
Turkey is loaded with vitamins and nutrients like protein, magnesium, and copper2. That means more energy and a stronger immune system for you and your little ones. When you buy turkey from the deli, no cooking is needed, so you cut out another prep step.
Deli Ham
Deli meats are perfect for quick, make ahead lunches. They can go in salads, wraps, and sandwiches. Ham is on the salty side which makes it an ideal combo with sweet apples and creamy cheeses.
How To Make Apple Cheese Wraps
Now, letโs see how simple and quick it really is to make Apple Cheese Wraps.
Step 1
Cut two pieces of colby jack and cheddar cheese and deli ham and turkey.
Step 2
Place a piece of cheese on top of an apple slice.
Step 3
